Surgical Tooth Extraction

A surgical extraction may be necessary when a tooth cannot be removed through a routine extraction technique.

Depending on the condition, the procedure may involve creating access through the gum, removing a small amount of surrounding bone or dividing the tooth into sections for controlled removal.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the last molars to develop. Some erupt normally and remain healthy, while others become impacted, partially erupted or difficult to clean.

Extraction is considered when clinical findings indicate an existing problem or a meaningful risk to nearby structures.

Alveoloplasty

Alveoloplasty is a procedure used to reshape or smooth areas of the jawbone that support the teeth.

Following extraction or tooth loss, the underlying ridge may have sharp, irregular or prominent areas. Reshaping may help create a smoother contour and support healing or future prosthetic treatment.

Frenectomy

A frenum is a small fold of tissue that connects the lips, cheeks or tongue to nearby oral structures. A frenectomy releases or removes a portion of this tissue when its position contributes to a functional, periodontal or orthodontic concern.

Operculectomy

An operculum is a flap of gum tissue that may partially cover an erupting tooth, commonly a lower wisdom tooth. Food and bacteria can collect beneath the flap, contributing to pain, swelling or recurrent inflammation.

Operculectomy involves removing the problematic gum flap in selected cases.

Incision and Drainage

A dental abscess is a collection of pus caused by infection. It can produce pain, swelling, tenderness, an unpleasant taste, fever or difficulty opening the mouth.

Incision and drainage may be required to release the collected infection and reduce pressure in the affected area.

Cyst Enucleation

A jaw cyst is a fluid-filled or tissue-lined cavity that may develop around a tooth, tooth root or within the jawbone. Some cysts cause swelling, pain or movement of nearby teeth, while others are discovered during routine imaging.

Cyst enucleation involves carefully removing the complete cyst lining when this is considered the appropriate treatment.

Oral Biopsy

A biopsy involves removing a small sample—or sometimes the whole area—of abnormal tissue for examination by a pathology laboratory.

It may be recommended when an oral lesion cannot be diagnosed confidently through clinical examination alone or when a persistent change requires further investigation.
